I absolutely love the beauty and fashion industries. I knew I didn’t particularly want to do hair (although I’ve dabbled with hair for years) and I had already done makeup (worked at a few counters, freelanced for years). The only thing left for me in the beauty industry was nails. I had done manis and pedis in college to earn extra money. So, years later, I have decided to enroll in the Mario Tricoci University nail tech program. Tricoci University is one of the best programs in the nation so I am sure that my education from here will take me far.
After researching the nail industry, I discovered that there is so much room for growth and expansion in the industry nationally and here in Chicago. I plan to turn the Chicago market into my playground. I have some REALLY unique ideas (read on in the blog — I may share some) and concepts that will begin after I am licensed. I am also psyched that Tricocci University is an OPI school (that means all OPI products!). I can’t wait to learn — and I can’t wait for you to read all about my adventures.

I currently live in Chicago and am working on a Masters Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications (finishing in 2010/2011). I am engaged and plan to marry next year. I also plan to launch my nail salon in 2011 — if I can make it through nail school.
As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
