Meet Emily Christina, founder of Nails by Colvon. Christina has already signed up downtown companies and residential complexes to partner with Colvon.

Busy stylish women (and men) in downtown Los Angeles can at least make sure their nails are always in perfect shape thanks to a new mobile salon service. Nails By Colvon is the world’s cutest truck, tricked out in custom graphics, six manicure/pedicure stations, built-in autoclave, HVAC, and an interior palette of black, white, pink, and gold.

Best of all, Colvon is mobile. “We go where we’re needed,” says Emily Christina, founder. The idea is to partner with companies and residential complexes that will offer memberships to employees and residents.

The truck was parked in front of the party space on W. 12th Street and got a lot of attention. “Nail salon in a truck; that’s sick!” said one appreciative passerby.

This is Michelle Hanabusa, the graphic designer who designed the truck’s exterior. She’s designed for many companies including Walt Disney Studios and BCBGMaxAzria.

Christina was in college when she became interested in nail art. “I had a roommate from Japan, who always showed me the latest nail art and stickers when she’d return from visiting her family,” Christina says. “I was fascinated, and from that period nail artistry became part of my business plan.”

A team of four independent contractors were recruited by Christina. “I looked for the best, and plan to bring them on as full-time employees soon,” she says.

This weekend, Christina invited NAILS to attend a launch party.

I was part of the press team covering Christina's big launch. My nails: pale green with crystals on the ring fingers.

She’s assembled a team of nail artists who will offer a full menu of services including manicures, pedicures (traditional and gel), full sets, soak-off, and of course nail art. Members can make appointments and earn points toward free services. Walk-ins are also welcome.

The launch party introduced the press to Colvon’s founder and offered free nail art services, hors d'oeuvres, and a tour of the truck.
