As nail professionals, we are usually crafty or creative when it comes to nails. An extension of our creativity sometimes occurs in salon furnishings as well. When a nail table is too flimsy or does not have the space or height you need, improvising and custom building occur. NAILS had a great piece with blueprints for a table if any of you have been hunting.
Another place where creativity comes in due to space, budget, or decor restrictions is the pedi area. Cindy Walston, creator of Confessions of a Nail Tech, posted some great pictures on her page of a stepstool that she has turned into a handy piece of salon furniture.
In my salon, the owner was looking for retail shelving that would fit her taller shampoo bottles as well as my short lotions and such without taking up a lot of space. She ended up going with a bookshelf that not only looks unique, but allows for different sizes of retail display without looking odd or having to lay some of the bottles down.
