When we first heard of a couture dress made entirely of nail tips in 2010 during Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, we were blown away. But now that we've seen a SECOND runway dress made of nails, we wonder, could this be a trend?

At the Charlie Le Mindu show (showcasing the spring/summer 2012 collection) in Paris, the designer put on the runway garments and accessories that used over 30,000 Minx Nails (pictured above). Nail stylist Marian Newman worked Charlie Le Mindu last season, creating fantastically elongated Minx nails in matte nude with blood red stars and tips. This season, Newman was again contacted by Charlie Le Mindus’ stylist Anna Trevelyan, who asked her what she thought of making a dress out of nails.

"My first reaction was, 'Oh my God, this is amazing!'" said Newman. “I knew they would want to maintain their thematic use of hair, so I brought in a load of samples to show them what Minx could achieve.” Over 30,000 Kiss nail tips were hand-covered with layered Minx nail coatings in the Minx factory in Fallbrook, Calif., for the creation of the fashion for the show, which expanded to dresses, a jumpsuit, and incredible headpieces including a snake that wound around the body of the runway model.
