I just wrote an article about salon safety for our upcoming August issue. While researching it, I found some interesting things that didn’t make it into the print edition. The article focuses on the simple, first-step responses you can do for a variety of injuries. Ranging from the less-severe, like cuts and nicks, to the more serious, like bad falls and heart attacks.

I found some good illustrated step-by-steps for CPR and for treating other maladies, like choking or sudden illness, and I also came across an interesting consultation service that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) provides.

OSHA offers a free consultation service to small and medium-sized business across the country, where they will come and consult, not inspect, your business, free of charge. They will tell you what you need to do to make sure your business is up to OSHA standards so you can prevent any future citations. You can find out more about it here.
