America's Beauty Show in Chicago this past weekend was a blast! The only thing that really had me bummed was the floor layout. If you look at the photo, you can see some red shapes scattered throughout. Those red shapes are the placement of the nail booths at the show. As you can see, it was quite an endeavor to find them! I talked to other nail attendees to learn that many were quite frustrated by the scattered booths. To work your way through tight hair crowds watching platform artists was tricky, then add the load of your purchases and it was annoying as well. Even with the ability to hunt up the locations on the app, by the time you had made your way through to a few booths, it seemed like more fun to just give up and leave the show floor to check social media and see what others were up to.

The hassle really curbed spending and the number of booths many professionals sought out. For those working in the booths, it took away the opportunity to slip away from their own booth to visit friends and do some shopping at the other booths. If you agree with this point of view, please leave a comment on the blog and sign it with your name and company or salon info so that I can send a link to ABS in hopes that even though we don't do hair, they will care enough to listen to us and make some changes for next year!

Reopening? Know Your Numbers

For those of you that like a little data with your info, here is some really interesting information from salon owner Michele Baker in Georgia. Being one of the first states to open left the salon owners to scramble to learn a lot of things on their own and many have been generous in sharing things they have figured out to help make operating in the COVID-19 world more systematic and understandable.
