Cosmetologists Chicago is offering salon professionals several opportunities, or "STAR-pportunities," to shine at this year's America's Beauty Show (ABS), which takes place March 22 to 24 at McCormick Place in downtown Chicago.

The first opportunity is the Stars and Rising Stars Photo Competition. There are nine categories to submit photos for, and prices include cash, media recognition, and hotel accommodations. While most of the categories pertain to cosmetologists and hairdressers, there are two for techs: The International Nail Technician of the Year and The Rising Star of ABS 2014 (for students).

Photos submitted for the International Nail Tech of the Year will be judged on creativity and technical merit in natural or nail enhancement work. Entrants must present two images showcasing a model's full hand. Submit photos online by Feb. 14, 2014 for a chance to win. For submission guidelines, click here.

The second opportunity is for the ABS Beauty Bash 2014. Try out for this competition if you have talents that lie outside the realm of nails. Are you really a singer? A dancer? A musician? A performing artist? You could be crowned Beauty Bash Performer of the year.
