There have been lots of requests in my e-mail and on my Facebook for more information on the new OPI GelColor. Since you could probably tuck what I know about OPI in a thimble it seemed like a good idea to ask an expert! I ran into Iowa-based OPI educator at a sales meeting recently and it seemed like fate. Kelly Freeman is so much fun to be around and does a great job answering questions. I love her passion for her company and what she does. Here is the information I gathered and some resources if you need more!
According to Kelly, the OPI GelColor can be cured in the new LED lamp or in the previous Axxium lamp. The base coat does have a very tiny amount of solvents, but the colors and top coat are pure gel. A gentle buff of the nails with a 240-grit file is optional and you should not need to file for removal. We did not have time for a demo, so she suggested that nail professionals check out the website for videos of the new gel color. They do have rolls or packs of remover wraps for purchase that can be used with Expert Touch. She was very excited about the salon mitts that can be applied to aid in removal. I asked her if this is a replacement to Axxium and she assured me that it was in addition to Axxium and not instead of. Axxium is meant for adding strength and length, it is also where the glitters and sheers can still be found.

I hope some of this answers your questions. Be sure to stop by OPI’s website or drop Kelly an e-mail if you have more questions.

It has been quite a while since I made a video for the e-file chronicles so an update to that seemed in order. The latest installment is removing gel-polish from an enhancement.
