If you didn’t already know, supporting your local nail product supplier offers many benefits including access to the professional products you need and continuing your education. Distributors typically carry your favorite brands so you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store as soon you walk in and some even partner with manufactures to offer you specialized classes.

From polish to scrubs, MK Beauty Club is a nail-focused distributor dedicated to offering products and classes to help professionals.

Last week I was on location at nail-focused distributor, MK Beauty Club in Los Angeles for a CND Master Architect class led by Holly Schippers. The class focused on CND’s Liquid & Powder System.

One of the biggest takeaways I learned was nailing a proper mix ratio takes practice, even for the acrylic faithful. It’s all about finding your groove.

Holly says you should practice your mix ratio before an acrylic services. I obsiously need way, way more practice.

Holly recommends that on days packed with acrylic appointments, get there a little early and practice at least 10 perfect beads of mix ratio before your first client.

This visual from CND demonstrates what a proper mix ratio bead should look like.

See the video below for a demo.

A big thanks to Monica and her team at MK Beauty Club and CND for letting us crash the class! It was so great to meet nail techs who are committed to improving their skills and learning the latest techniques.
