A match made in a bride-to-be’s heaven, Wedding Paper Divas unveiled its bridal stationery collaboration with fashion designer, Whitney Port, in late July. The launch party was held on the penthouse rooftop of the Mondrian Soho in New York City and New York-based nail tech, Monica Hughes was on location treating guests to manicures, nail art, and custom decal application.

Hughes, a Fashion Institute of Technology alumna and licensed nail tech, makes custom nail decals called Monica Hues. When offered the chance to work with Wedding Papers Divas to create custom nail decals using elements from Port’s exclusive line of wedding invitations, it was a no-brainer. “I was honored and excited. I’ve been doing a lot of wedding manicure and decal projects lately so teaming up with Wedding Paper Divas was a natural fit,” she says. “Whitney is such a style icon, so it was a real treat to dress up her nails with the decals,” Hughes says.

The unique stationery collection by the former “Hills” star features six bold and playful designs including rustic and earthy floral, bright and abstract splashes of watercolor, and tribal patterns. Hughes drew a bit of inspiration from each set to create the custom nail decals. “I used icons of floral crowns, lace patches, pyramid studs, and edgy triangles just to name a few,” Hughes says. “Wedding and engagement nail art is really blowing up these days, and this was such a fun exploration of that. The possibilities are endless.”

While the custom set of decals were exclusive to the launch party, you can still purchase your own set of boho and engagement Monica Hues packs on her Etsy store.
