I graduate. I'm not sure if all beauty schools are the same but in mine you can't fail any exam. You have to pass all of them in order to graduate, so being on top of your game always is a must.

This week was a short week. My instructor taught us how to make sugar scrubs. I added essential oils to mine for a sweet smell; it was fruity, like a cherry-strawberry scent. On Thursday, we went over our UV chapter in our textbook and my instructor demonstrated how to use UV builder gel and UV self-leveling gel. I need to buy more gels since gel has taken over the nail industry, and as a nail technician you have to always keep up with the latest trends. As you know, I'm a senior now, so this is my last unit, and then no more textbook; everything will be hands-on practice for the State Board exams. My instructor let us know that we don't have to go to the senior floor yet but if new students enroll then we will have to go to the senior floor. I have a feeling I'll be at the senior floor next month.
We also practiced the usual services and our pink and whites on tips and forms: translucent pink nail on a tip and fiberglass and silk wraps. I'm getting better with my pink and white set, and I know by next month I'll be a lot better than I am now.

A lot of people don't know how much work it takes to become a licensed nail technician. Yes, you do a lot cool nail art designs but you also are always taking tests and have to make sure you understand everything you're taught. I'm almost finished with beauty school but I have lot of exams to pass before I graduate. I'm not sure if all beauty schools are the same but in mine you can't fail any exam. You have to pass all of them in order to graduate, so being on top of your game always is a must. To prospective beauty school students, I would say even though it's a lot of hard work it won't feel like work as long as you love what you're doing; it'll all pay off. Thank you everyone for reading my blog. It means so much to me and I hope you enjoy it! I'll see you in Week 14!
As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
