This week we finally got to my favorite chapter: nail art! On Monday, we discussed the different types of embellishments you can add. We got to have fun on our nails so I did a reverse pink and white and ombre with colored acrylic. On Tuesday, we practiced strokes with nail polish and I gave one of my classmates a full set and a repair on one finger. On Thursday, my instructor demonstrated a full set with nail art. Each nail was a different shape and she did an inlaid nail with embellishments inside. It was so pretty I'm going to try doing it. My instructor also demonstrated how to sculpt a 3D rose. This week was fun, and next week I start my services. I also have another big test so I'm back to studying hard and hopefully getting high scores. Fingers crossed it's not too hard. Nail art is going to be on the exam as well so it should be fun. I love how you can create anything with nail art and all the different embellishments you can use.
It's so amazing to have this opportunity to connect with nail technicians and other beauty school students through this blog, and I’m so appreciate everyone reading each week. Thank you and I’ll see you in week 15!
As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
