Week 17: Preparing to Be a Licensed Nail Technician
I hope I pass my State Board exams and don't have to keep retaking them. I would go crazy stressing myself out! I can't wait to start doing nails in a salon and creating all kinds of nail designs and nail art.

This week was fun. On Monday I finished up a lot of my required manicure services — I’ve completed almost all of them. While I was in class, we were informed that there was a nail salon owner who was about to speak, so I went to the senior floor to listen. Her salon is so beautiful and so elegant; I really like it. She was recruiting nail technicians who are about to graduate, so I will be sending her my resume very soon. As a nail technician, you should have a professional resume to take with you when you job search at different salons so they can see your accomplishments.
On Tuesday, I completed more manicure services, and because it was Valentine's Day I did love-themed nails. I even put 3D hearts on my own nails. On Thursday I completed more manicure services. I definitely will have completed all my manicure services by next week. Then I'll be moving on to the rest of my required services and taking my State Board exams. I hope I pass them and don't have to keep retaking them. I would go crazy stressing myself out! I can't wait to start doing nails in a salon and creating all kinds of nail designs and nail art.

As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
