This week was both aggravating and exciting. It started out rocky because of changes at school. I welcome change but I was aggravated because of how often and how dramatic the changes have been. Throughout this experience I have sat back and rolled with the punches, but something about this week didn't sit well with me.

This week was both aggravating and exciting. It started out rocky because of changes at school. I welcome change, but I was aggravated because of how often and how dramatic the changes have been. We received our kits, and they are nice kits with nice things in them, but it is not what was communicated to me when I started school. The items, the quantity, and everything was off for me. I get frustrated in this process sometimes because of how often change has come to us, but I refuse to let it keep me from doing what I need to do. I have decided to take my education by the reigns and make it the best it can be for me.

My week ended by participating in the Ultimate Women's Expo as a representative of the school. The event was educational, fun, busy, and so much more. I did 16 Express Manicures between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. I would not have traded the experience for anything. I interacted with women from all walks of life and they were so encouraging. I even had a client who shared her thoughts on business success. When I signed up to participate in this event I didn’t realize it would be all that it turned out to be for me. It makes me that much more excited to be where I am at this time in my life.
I just want to make it clear, nothing worth having comes easy. My will and determination to get where I want to go is my reason for doing what I do. I have so much to get done in this industry and through all the ups and downs I will come out on top. I have no other expectation of myself. External factors only test me so that I can show and prove. I feel that this is what I accomplished and learned about myself this week. This was definitely a confidence builder and I can appreciate that.
As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
