This week is so exciting for me because I have fallen madly in love with gel enhancements. I had the opportunity to practice with builder gel and it was such a great experience for me. I really had fun with it. My instructor said she believes I've found my niche! I must say that I have to agree. I learned about the different types of gel and how it makes itself different from the acrylic enhancements that I've spent most of my program practicing with. In listening to what my program director experienced at Premiere Orlando, it seems as though the industry is spending more time with this product and getting very creative with it too. I cannot wait to attend Premiere Birmingham as a professional in October!
I sat in class this week and realized that my peers are graduating and doing this profession their own way. I have had the opportunity to meet some wonderful people this far in my program and I look forward to seeing them as professionals making their mark. As more and more students graduate I realize my graduation is getting closer. What's next for me you might wonder? All I can share right now is that it is all exciting things! I am a little nervous and fearful of what is to come, but that's what makes me think I need to continue down this road.

As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
