This week was my final week as a nail tech student. I can't believe it's over already. It went by so fast and I'm so proud to say I am now a licensed nail tech because I already passed my state board exams for my temporary license! This week was short. Because my graduating date was pushed back due to snow days, I only had two days left. On Monday, because I completed all my required services, I didn't really have anything to do, so I decided to draw out a set I've had in my mind for a while now, inspired by New York City. On Tuesday, I said goodbye to everyone and did another set on my practice hands. I love creating art on nails — that and acrylic are definitely my favorite part about nails. Now I have to start studying for my State Board exam but I have a feeling I'm going to pass. I'm so excited to start this new journey into a career that I've wanted for so long.
I'm so thankful to Beauty Changes Lives, CND, and Tippi Hedren for blessing me with winning a scholarship. If it weren't for them I wouldn't have been able to attend beauty school any time soon. I also want to give a huge thank you to NAILS Magazine for giving me this opportunity to blog and connect with fellow beauty lovers. I loved every minute of blogging for such an amazing magazine — I still can't believe I blogged for NAILS Magazine! And I want to give the biggest thank you to everyone who has read my blog, liked, commented, and shared it. And to the people who have contacted me from reading my blog, thank you so much. Without your support and reading, I feel like beauty school would have been harder if I didn't have the blog as an outlet. Stay tuned for all the new things that are coming on this journey I'm about to take. You can follow my nail page on Instagram @Glammetiff. And to everyone: Always follow your dream and never give up. People may try to talk you out of it or downplay it, but it's because they can't see your vision. It's your job to prove to them you got it. Keep confidence in yourself, your craft, and your dreams. You have to believe that you're amazing before you can convince anybody else. Thank you so much for reading, and have an amazing week. I'll see you soon!
As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
