This week has been full of excitement as I wrap up my ANT training and prepare to perform my clinical with three clients to satisfy the requirements toward certification!
The biggest thing that happened to me this week was that I received a certificate for professionalism in the school spa. Now, I'm going to be honest here...there have been a few occasions where I wasn't the proudest of my response to adversity during this experience. I would get home and really make sure I checked myself so that I will be a better professional and in life overall. But what warms my heart and makes me feel good is that I was recognized by two ladies who have seen me through good and bad times and they felt I deserved to be rewarded for my good times.

It only goes to show that you are always on. I want to be able to work with people in this industry and I want to make a mark in a positive way. School has been the perfect platform to test all levels of professionalism and sometimes I have failed. However, my experience has been full of teachable moments for me and I wouldn't trade them for anything.
I'm going into everything now with extreme focus because I have goals to accomplish and I cannot become my own worst enemy by not being prepared. The countdown is now in the single digits! I am a ball of emotions but the anticipation and excitement are the strongest. I have said it before and I will say it again...I cannot wait to become licensed and begin to work in this exciting industry!
As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
