Only a few more weeks until I graduate! The highlight of this week for me would be the excitement that my friends are having about me being so close to the end of this process. I even had the opportunity to do some work on friends based on things I have learned and continue to learn. It put the biggest smile on my face to see them happy with the end product. It only goes to show that I am in the right place doing the right thing at this time in my life.
It has not been the easiest journey for me, but I have been able to learn so much. I have developed some great personal and professional relationships that I believe that will stand the test of time. There have been some struggles that I have had with the school and there have been times I wanted to quit. But this week, I reflected on how far I have come and how I knew that this wouldn’t be the end for me. I continue to push through because I know that with the right level of professionalism I am able to get what I need when I need to have it.

This week also marked the week that I completed my repetitions as a part of requirements needed to graduate. I looked at my progress report in awe because I cannot believe that I did so much in what I can now call “so little time.” Eight months may seem like a short length of time to most, but when you are in a program learning something new and juggling so many other priorities in life it can be the longest time ever.
Next week, I prepare to take my Advanced Nail Technician (ANT) exam. I’m slightly nervous because there is so much to know and I do not want to fail in this. It is so important to me to be able to have a safe salon and to educate my clients on the importance of everything I will be doing to keep them safe while giving them the best service I can. I have been reviewing the material, so my plan is to walk into the testing area confident and ready to pass the exam.
My time as a student blogger is almost up and I have to say that I am going to miss this. But I am looking forward to doing some similar projects going forward, and just the thought of what I can accomplish is giving me chills. I have so much more to say and so much more to share with the world.
As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
