Taking a quick bathroom selfie before returning to class!
Hello my friends,
This week was kind of slow. I was so excited to go to school on Monday, but then I realized, we had an extended weekend due to summer holidays. I enjoyed my time with my husband and kids, but all I can think about right now is nails! I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels that way.

We only were in school two days this week and we continued to work on our manicure skills, and learned about paraffin. Paraffin is an add on service that is amazing. Not only is it extremely relaxing but it's healthy for your skin, nerves, and muscles. We're also learning that there's a technique to making polish perfect, which is what every woman looks for in any nail service. We're all excited to move on to overlays and enhancements but I can say that the basics are just as, if not more, important as the advanced stages. Plus we have plenty of time ahead of us. We need to take this time to really learn and work on what we need to get better at. I like to take my weaknesses and master them, turning them into my strengths.
I did an OPI manicure with paraffin service. Let's just say she loved her massage.
I was sad to only have had two days of school because that's what I look forward to and its frusterating only having four evening classes a week. When I'm at school learning about nails, it seems like all of my problems disappear and for those five hours I don't have to worry about work or bills. I could never express enough how thankful I am for this opportunity. And while it's easier said than done, be patient. Hang in there, friends. Stay positive and stay focused. We got this.
As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
