This week we had our first written exam and I think I did pretty well. I won't know until next week but I'll post my score — fingers crossed I passed. Our practical exam is due this coming week. We started a new unit, which is all about disinfectants and infections. It’s really nasty, but I'm so happy I'm learning about it. We learned the different types of bacteria, fungi, and viruses. We also learned the difference between cleaning, sterilization, and disinfecting. When we finished our test we had a free day so I got a fill-in from one of my classmates. I also did some nail art on my practice hand and I gave my practice feet nail beds. Next week I'm going to do a feather nail with one of my classmates who I met in orientation — I can't wait! Everybody in my class is fun and positive, which makes learning so easy and fun. I really do love cosmetology school. If anybody reading this is thinking about going, do it. You won't regret it. There's a lot of work involved, but if you like beauty you'll love beauty school. As always, I hope everybody had a wonderful week and don't forget to come back for Week 5. Thanks for reading!
As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
