This was my second set of sculpted nails in a green and white ombre.
I'm another week closer to my graduation date, and my excitement for this journey of nails hasn't faded! This week we started out with my favorite service, sculpted nails. I prefer this method over tips. It does take me more time (and I'm working on that) but I feel that a sculpted nail is a better quality nail enhancement.
I wanted to challenge myself, so I attempted to do an encapsulated ombré. I was having a problem with encapsulations last week so I wanted to work on them. My nail sets came out really cute! The shape was almost perfect, but my instructor and I both agreed that I need to work on where the pink fades into the white. Other than that, I was very pleased with my set. The next day was pretty much the same thing: sculpted nails and ombrés. This time I went with green and white and I loved that set too.

We had run out of pink for this set, so we used orange instead. Oh, and glitter is always a good idea.
I love coming to school to learn, practice to get better. It is hard, and I'm exhausted because most days, I come straight from work. I miss my husband and my kids because I don't get as much time with them as I did before school started, but it's all going to be worth it once I graduate.
Every step I've taken in life has been to better my family. However, with nails, I'm extremely happy with my chosen career path! Creating art and making others feel beautiful makes me feel like I'm fulfilling a purpose in life. This is what I'm meant to do! I hope you all are feeling the same and don't lose hope. Stay as excited as you were when you made the decision to go to beauty school and don't let anything take your focus away from that.
We're already two months in. In two weeks, we'll be on the floor taking clients. Next thing you know, we"ll have finished the program.
Thanks for reading, everyone. Keep spreading the love but always remember to #lovejoself!
As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
