Can I just say that life has truly been a whirlwind? Things are getting busier and busier by the moment and it’s exciting and scary at the same time.
The last two weeks have been packed with reps, reps, and more reps. I am working on fine-tuning my skills and learning more. It’s apparent to me how much I’ve grown and I’m excited! I no longer have a fear of acrylic!

This chapter in my life is winding down and I spend a lot of time just reviewing what I have learned and preparing myself for life upon receiving my license. Do you do (or have you done) this in class too? I know I am not alone. I’ve sacrificed a lot to change my original career course but I feel so much more excited about what is to come by being a licensed nail technician.
I really want to take my place in the industry to the next level. I know I usually have an in-depth story to tell about what my week has looked like but it has been pretty steady over these last two weeks. I am meeting some wonderful people as clients and they have been great motivation. It’s nice to see people excited about what I envision for myself and my career.
I’m looking forward to another week where I’m told that we will be doing some exciting things. I’m just trucking along and I cannot wait to share what happens next week!
As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
