Well, it has finally arrived. These last two weeks have had their ups and downs but I am so proud to say that I am finally finished with school! I still have the hurdle of obtaining my license but I know that I am equipped to pass.

I have so much to celebrate through this journey and so much to look forward to professionally. I came into this edeavor wanting to make the switch to becoming a nail technician and I knew it would require a lot of my time because I have a full-time career. I was met with some adversity personally and with the school, but I was determined not to allow any roadblocks stand in the way of what I came to accomplish. If I was to have a conversation with anyone in my situation, I would tell them to push pass it all and reach for your dreams. So many things will come up, but it is a matter of knowing how to tackle it all and remain successful.
My successes these two weeks outside of completing school would be that I passed my Advanced Nail Technician test and my Exit Exam! It amazed me how everything came to me while taking the tests. Now, I will admit that I did not have a perfect score on either but I celebrate nonetheless because I see my progress. It feels good to have completed these tests, obtained my signatures to move forward, and reach this goal! I also completed my portfolio that I will build upon and change often, and it felt so good to share with my peers and my instructor.

Doors have begun to open up and client inquiries have begun to come in. I find myself putting people on hold because I want to have my license. I want to have my business completely set up and I want to be able to give my clients the best. For those who have followed my journey, you know that excellence is my standard and I strive for it daily.
I have enjoyed being a student blogger more than I expected! I was so nervous that I would not have anything to say or that no one would find my stories interesting. I have had communication with people whom I didn't know were reading, and it has been so much fun! Blogging is definitely something in my future, so I say look out for me!
To anyone reading, I say thank you. It has been a pleasure and I look forward to sharing the next chapter with you soon!
As of this writing this instalment of my nail student blog may be the last one for a while. Similar to many schools and other institutions around the world, due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic classes at San Diego City College have been suspended until further notice.
During week five, we received another lecture on skin structure, growth, and nutrition and tests on pedicures and nail tips and wraps. A good portion of the week was focused on giving manicures.
NAILS has a new student blogger! San Diego-based Gregory Fletcher is looking forward to getting into the nail industry after retiring from his first career in the financial services industry
Let’s continue to shine, continue to spread light, joy and love to all around us! We’ll make a difference one smile, one hug, one nail service at a time!
It’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
