Only a few more weeks until I graduate! The highlight of this week for me would be the excitement that my friends are having about me being so close to the end of this process.
Well, I made it through one week of nail school. Whew! Let’s back up to see how my first week began. I spent most of my Sunday thinking about what a hectic schedule I will have from now until November.
This week’s highlight: a visit from a Tammy Taylor educator. She demonstrated how to accomplish the perfect pink and white sculpt. We had some fun, we learned some things, and I ordered the student kit.
Greetings to all of you in the wonderful world of nails! My name is Orma Swearinger, and in a few days, I will be starting my first day in the Nail Technology program at the Institute of Beauty Artistry in Greenville, SC.
Before I started this journey to becoming a licensed nail technician I was always fascinated with nail art. There are some amazing nail technicians in this industry doing some creative things with nails as their canvas. I consider myself a creative person, and this week I was put to the test.
Exhaustion is the name of the game. I can only imagine how it is going to be as I progress in the industry as a professional. But at the end of the day, at least it will be my choice how I do it and not someone else’s.
This week is so exciting for me because I have fallen madly in love with gel enhancements. I had the opportunity to practice with builder gel and it was such a great experience for me. I really had fun with it. My instructor said she believes I've found my niche!
I sat this week and really reflected on the fact that soon I will be done with school and I will be sitting before the state board to become licensed. I remember starting this program thinking that it would be the longest eight months of my life.
