This is a question I get asked a lot. I have always been a true believer in making sure my nails look salon professional rather than apologetic. The first thing people want to see are your nails, so kudos to you for wanting to keep them looking nice! In my toolbox I employ plastic-backed pads, implements, one-way liquid pumps, CND Shellac Remover wraps, and flex wrap.
Using a plastic-backed pad will protect you from overexposure and allow you to take off polish, cuticle remover products, and cleanse the nail plate without having liquids touch your beautiful nails. Use your implements to spread cuticle remover and clean up stray polish or enhancement product. One-way pumps offer controlled liquid dispersion for your plastic-backed pads, cotton/sponge (use tweezers to handle), or remover wraps. Lastly I use a 2-in. wide flex wrap that I cut to fit my finger girth. I wrap the finger(s) I tend to graze while filing and fold over the top for extra protection. Make sure you follow the advice you give your clients too: Keep your nails hydrated with Solar Oil daily to help support your nail service. — Tanya Sisson is the owner of Nail Girl Salon in Aloha, Ore., and a CND education ambassador.
