Could you tell me how to prevent gels from lifting from the nail tips?

September 6, 2006

There could be a few reasons for this issue. Not all gel products can cure through a French or natural tip. You may want to check with the manufacturer to make sure this is not the reason for the lifting. Are you etching the tip with a file? Some products will not adhere to a tip if you don’t rough up the surface first. Lastly, make sure you are bringing the gel over the free edge of the tips since gel shrinks upon curing and that can cause the product to pull away from the tip or the natural nail. — Leeanne Colley is owner of Tips Nail Bar and Academy in Toronto.
