As much as I’d like to say we were at happy hour throwing out names, it’s not the case, but you’re on the right track. It is a collaborative effort. The R&D team, plus the brand managers do a lot of research with trendspotters worldwide. We look to see not only what colors will be in vogue, but what the mood is going to be. The collection is formed from these investigations and research. The team then starts the naming process once a collection mood and season is solidified. As with any creative process, it’s continually evolving and goes through many rounds. Sometimes an idea that you think is amazing morphs into something completely different. — John Galea, communications manager, Orly International
