How do you track your sales and other records throughout the year?

February 1, 2013

We use Shortcuts salon software.
Lorraine Brennan O’Neil
:10 Minute Manicure, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

I use STX from Salon Transcripts and Quicken.
Jaime Schrabeck
Precision Nails, Carmel, Calif.

I keep a book of written records throughout the year. Then, at the end of the year, I put all the information into an Excel sheet to calculate my expenses and income.
Chelsea Devine
Radiance Salon and Spa, Sparks, Nev.

I use SpaBooker for running all my reports and keeping track of my retail inventory and taxes — along with my accountant just to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
Demetria Smith Dobbins
Your Time 2 Shine Nail Spa, Chicago

I keep a file for my expenses and receipts. I also keep a written and computerized log of all my sales.
Tess Williams
Glamourous Nailz Studio, Boca Raton, Fla.

I use Quickbooks. But I write my schedule in a planner from Staples — I just can’t let it all go!
Darlene Donovan
Salon Bellamy, Derry, N.H.

I use the Envision Salon Management System.
Faye Williams-Rubow
Salon 214, Chanute, Kan.

I use Mindbody online software. I love it — they do it all for me.
Ami Couverthier
Polished NailBAR-Spa, Wolcott, Conn.

I keep an appointment book with amounts totaled daily, weekly, and monthly in the tabs.
Amy Murphy
Castle Nails, Ruston, La., and New Image Salon, Arcadia, La.

We use Millennium. It’s awesome!
Charity Correai
Pin Ups Salon, Leesburg, Fla.

We use Quicken throughout the year, then Turbo Tax for our taxes (my husband and I file jointly, since I’m a sole proprietor). I keep all my receipts in an envelope (including copies of canceled checks I’ve written, but I use one specific credit card for most business expenses), organized by date, then alphabetically.
Dana Kurtz
Artistry of the Nail (at Salon Shibumi), Portland, Ore.

I keep everything written down in a special notebook and file all of my receipts.
Hollie Townsend Jeffery
Lazelle Le Salon, Sturgis, S.D.

I use Vagaro for my salon schedule. I pull a monthly report and enter it into Excel. I can compare year to year quickly.
Amy Bickel
The Salons at Tuscan Square, Temple, Texas

I use software from Salon Iris that keeps track of my appointments and income automatically and I enter in my expenses. I can run tons of different kinds of reports like profit and loss and year-to-year comparisons, monthly/weekly reports, tips, commissions, and more. It also keeps track of retail products inventory and sales. It tracks client history and even prints off mailing labels! I then file all receipts in a monthly file folder.
Crystal Ngo
Lila Nail Spa, Garrett, Ind.

I run a sales meeting every month that makes me stay on top of Quickbooks and sales reports every week. We love our booking system, SpaBooker, which allows us to check sales from different angles. I also check individual sales for technicians to check utilization and set goals.
Emi Wayner
Zenka Hands & Feet Spa, Manhattan Beach, Calif.

I track everything by writing in a record book as well as having a tax/bookkeeper.
Elizabeth Brandow
No Tan Lines Tanning and Nail, Bassett, Va.
