It’s not safe to apply nail extensions if the nail bed is separating. The reason the separation is occurring (trauma, fungus, overuse of extensions, etc.) must be dealt with first by a medical professional. The extensions could cause further harm to the nail bed if applied at this time. For example, the nail bed won’t let the nail attach, causing the nails to get short and stubby.
