Should I have a TV in my salon?

August 1, 2014

If you’re going to have a TV, it should only show channels or information related to the industry or the services in your business. While it may seem like a nice touch, it creates the potential to distract and take away from the environment as well as the services and products offered in it. Think of it like this — would you rather have your nail technicians building relationships with your clients and educating them on the services they are performing or sitting quietly doing their work while the client watches the news or whichever talk show is on? If you want to offer something interactive, have iPads with look books, your nail salon’s website, overall offerings, blogs, etc., for clients to peruse. If you already have TVs then change it up. Unless TVs are a part of your differentiation, such as a sports-themed salon or barbershop, then they should be used to show trends, techniques, product knowledge, and at-home care, just to name a few ideas.
