It sounds like the silk may be too old, and the adhesive isn’t there any more. The glue shouldn’t be what makes the wrap stick to the nail. The glue is only applied to make the wrap disappear. The adhesive backing is what makes the wrap stick to the nail.
Some other pointers: I always base the nail first with gel so the silk will adhere better. A wrap stays better when it’s sandwiched between two like products.
