Nails On Point: Who Won and Who’s Packing Up Their Brushes
Congratulations to Valerie Ducharme for winning this week’s challenge! Valerie’s vibrant chaotic nails dazzled the judges.
Guest judge Lauren Wireman said, “Chaos is exactly what I feel when I look at your design! The detail and color of the design overwhelmed me — it’s absolutely stunning and reminds me of a mosaic. Beautiful work!”
Head judge Jan Arnold said, “You taught us all how to make glitter shine! Amazing tips in the tutorial and the end result is simply breathtaking! WOW!”
Head judge Beth Livesay said, “The shaping of the tips adds to the chaos. Great color choices here with amazing contrast. The video timing was perfect and it left me wanting more. The black background was a bold choice, it’s all the more impressive that you could see well enough to place the glitter individually. Your tips on application and simple imagery were helpful, thank you for sharing.”
NAILS art director Yuiko Sugino said, “I love that she’s carved the tips to give it a unique shape. Excellent choice of colors, nothing is lost in the design. The gradients give the design great dimension, especially the face and eyes. I can get a sense of her energy throughout the whole set.”

The nail tech who is packing up her paintbrushes this week is… Hemi Park.
This won’t be the last you hear from Hemi. She will move on to the final CND Last Chance Design Lab, where she’ll have one last chance to stay in the competition. Check back next week to see who will move on in our Last Chance battle and on to the finale — Ashton or Hemi.
Tune in Monday for the final Last Chance challenge. Good luck to Ashton and Hemi!
