For Season 6’s seventh Last Chance Design Lab challenge sponsored by CND, Ashley Hoffman and Emily Nash will battle it out one-on-one to see who has a chance of staying in the competition. CND’s Jan Arnold will select her favorite look Friday and you’ll find out who will remain for at least one more week.

All Last Chance challenges are done on a single nail tip. Contestants are also asked to describe their looks. There are no other elements to this battle.

Since Ashley packed her paintbrushes after KUPA’s Triptych Fix challenge, this week’s Last Chance challenge is loosely related.

Triple Threat: Create a comic book-style storyboard of your emotions from the last 3 days (handpainting only).

Here are the looks they created:

I was thinking about all the emotions this competition has evoked and there have been so many from the very beginning of my application process to getting eliminated then being brought back in for two more weeks to then making it to the Top 5! Then to have another second chance in the Design Lab is incredible and I’m so thankful for this opportunity. My emotions have ranged from full of anxiety and nervousness to joyful when I found out I had made it through to the next round. To depict these feelings I chose to do three frames using my bitmoji because she really accurately captures my emotions! The first frame represents me waiting last week to see how the judges would receive my set I submitted. The second frame is a dramatic version of me finding out I was in the bottom two and ultimately eliminated. The last frame is my joy to know I still have a shot at Top 3 through the design lab.

Being asked to make a storyboard of my emotions over 3 days last week was hard because I had so many emotions going through my head through the week. From being eliminated the week prior and then winning my first Last Chance lab, my emotions went from very low to very high. So my first emotion was being overly tired, which I think everyone can relate to who has been in this position. After finishing my Last Chance nail last week I wanted to sleep for a whole week. Not only was I physically drained but mentally. Not knowing your fate in the competition and having to wait almost three days to find out, exhausted me. Which leads me to anxious. Oh boy were my nerves on edge all week. Constantly thinking, should I have done that different or this different, but knowing it’s done and turned in and your next move is to just sit and wait. Talk about anxiety on high! It was all worth it in the end when on Thursday I got the email that I had won my first Last Chance Design Lab. My emotions were just all over the place, and I feel bad for my client that was there when I found out because I think I screeched, ran around the salon and then my hands shook the rest of her appointment. But the overall joy I felt was worth all the sleepy, anxious days prior.

Congratulations to Emily Nash for winning the sixth Last Chance Design Lab challenge of Season 6! Emily went up against Ashley Hoffman to illustrate the last three days in comic book-style art. CND’s Jan Arnold chose the winner.

Jan said, “You win this week because you painted outside of the lines! Your work is colorful, graphic, and expressive!”

This means Emily will move on to compete against the next eliminated contestant. Find out tomorrow who that will be.
