As our world becomes more accessible and international, NAILS thought it would be fun to put a global spin on the classic “French” nail. Experienced nail artist Becky Bence of Salon 505: The Day Spa in Austin, Texas, created these international “French” looks by using acrylic craft paint and the different nations’ flags as inspiration.
Kimberly Connolly-Preston has been doing nails for nine years, and her detailed work and craftsmanship have earned her a devout following among her clients at Exclusive Hair Designs in Kenton, Ohio, as well as first-prize in NAILS’ Mural Contest in March. NAILS got a chance to sit down with Preston and talk about some of her favorite works and how she got her start.
A nail tech for 21 years, Bonnie Rios still gets excited about the nail industry. “I am constantly intrigued at the advances that occur over 10 little digits,” she says. But what really gets her excited is the art. “The ability to make each nail into a tiny self-expression that you can change at a whim is a great outlet for my creative side. And the bonus is I get paid to do it!”
