In the year 2000, the editors of NAILS decided it would be fun to have a nail technician reader create the cover for one issue and so we started the Cover Tech Contest. Browse through the best of the contests through the years.
With the voting for this year’s winning cover tech image too close to call, NAILS has done something it’s never done before: We ran two different covers for the same issue. Some of you received an issue featuring black and pink striped nails on the cover and some of you got a blue and green plaid design. In either case, you’re enjoying the handiwork of Julie Kandalec of Jenniffer & Co. in Mentor, Ohio.

Congratulations to NAILS' 2007 Cover Tech Contest winner Doan Hoelsher of DoaNails in Fort Collins, CO. Hoelsher created a feast for the eyes with her sumptuous strawberry-themed design. We're delighted to share the winning images with you, along with a selection of our favorite entries. Our thanks to everyone who submitted photos for sharing your artistry with us.
This year's Nail Tech Cover Tech Contest found two winners!
With a year of nail technology classes under her belt, Tokyo-based cover tech Ami Seki is continuing her Education at Ci:z Nail Academy and also doing nails at Tout Soleil salon, where she has worked for about six months.
A decision had to be made and we are pleased to announce that this year's winner — whose work you can see on our cover — is Angie Perez of Siren Salon in Chicago.
