
Scottish Tech Scores With Boxed Art

An iconic World War II-era black-and-white photo was the subject of this year’s winning entry. Nail tech Amber Dunson’s skillful artwork captures the exuberance of an American sailor celebrating V-J Day with a kiss in Times Square.

It was no easy task reviewing applications, nail art photos, and videos from all over the world, but at long last the team at NAILS has named its 24 semi-finalists for season three of NAILS Next Top Nail Artist sponsored by CND.

In January of last year we introduced our #31NAILS2014 game where we challenged participants to complete a different nail art theme every day and share it on social media. We asked Shannon Rooney (@seriouslynails) of Las Vegas and Kelly McNair (@kikiandcompany) of Toledo, Ohio, about what it took to produce a new nail design for almost every day of the year.

NAILS and CND name the top three artists who will be competing for the title of NAILS Next Top Nail Artist at ISSE Long Beach 2015.

Given the degree of difficulty involved, we are simply blown away by the talent on display in the winning entries to our first Celebrity Face Off competition.

Congratulations to Krystle Medina of Chicago and Jessie Villarreal of Fullerton, Calif., whose armed forces-themed nails won a prize from INM.

Congratulations to Michelle Whitaker of Salon Legacy Nails in Rolla, Mo. This self-taught artist earned a win by capturing the moody beauty of a Leonid Afremov painting. And be sure to take a look at the other outstanding entries in this tough field.

Demonstrating extraordinary talent, a steady hand, and a keen eye for detail, nail artist Elsbeth Schuetz won this year’s contest with her Roaring Twenties-themed mural. Congratulations also go to second-place winner Aria Justice of Enid, Okla., and third-place winner Amanda Lenher, of Collierville, Tenn. Our sincere thanks to all who entered.

We tallied your votes and nail tech Miki Nakano of Nail Salon Ciel in Tokyo took top honors this year with her oh-so-pretty puzzle image. Congratulations to Miki, and to runners-up Janina Lumous, Lenzi Brock, and Melanie McCulley. A giant thank you goes out to everyone who entered.

It’s So Easy has announced the winners of the second-annual Summer Fun Nail Art Contest, where nail artists from around the United States entered their summer-themed creations using only stripers, paints, and polish; no enhancements or embellishments were allowed.
