Nail Care has been an official SkillsUSA contest since 1998. Like the other categories in this nationwide competition, the contest challenges students in an entire occupational career area, not just a skill set in an occupation. The nail care contest consists of six segments, each of which is about 45 minutes. Similar to a contest like Miss America, entrants compete on a local/state level first, then the winners at that level continue competing until finally working their way up to the national conference.

Ahh … the joys of victory and the agony of defeat. In the nail competition arena, bringing home the trophy takes much more than skill — it starts with proper preparation, practice, a positive attitude, and a passion for competing.
London was buzzing in September as the world’s top nail technicians traveled from all over the globe to compete in The Nailympics London, one of the nail industry’s most creative and hotly contested competitions.

Nail professionals can show the world their creativity by designing and photographing their best work to enter in the International Nail Technicians Association (INTA) Stars Nail Design photo competition. Finalists will be selected and judged by industry celebrities and editors, including Jan Arnold, co-founder of CND, nail technician Vicki Peters, and NAILS editor Hannah Lee.

Lynn Lammers is once again NAILS’ top competitor this year. With a whopping 117 points, Lammers has reclaimed her #1 status from last year. Coming in second was Odyssey’s Trang Nguyen, and in third was England’s Kristy Meakin.
Talk about bragging rights. Amy Becker has earned a spot on NAILS’ Top 25 Competitors list more times than anyone else in its history. And finally, for our 2010-2011 competition year, she’s snagged the top spot.
