If someone asked me what I thought would be a good new nail competition, it would be to offer competitions based on a specific style. Say, stiletto for instance. Because my opinion is that when you allow this nail style in a traditional competition, the judges may gravitate towards the new style, just because it is different. There by discriminating against the rest.

Even though they may not mean to, and are trying to remain objective, it just naturally occurs. I’m not usually one to try and limit creativity, but I have seen this kind of thing happen. Usually in a design sculpture competition where competitors are allowed more leeway anyways, but really how can you be objective when you are comparing a stiletto style nail to an edge style nail to a competition style nail? That’s like comparing apples to oranges to bananas.

I mean we already have style limitations, competition style vs. salon success style, so what is the difference? Why not just have an edge style nail competition? Define what the structure is and go for it.

And while I’m at it, keep those judges behind the curtain for all competitions, it’s so obvious what is going on when they dart out from behind the curtain and make a beeline for their favorite competitor! Please!
