Wiki says that as we humans evolve, the competitive spirit becomes less innate and more a learned behavior — meaning that when we were still forced to chase after our food, competition was something that came naturally. But now as a civilized race, with food bought from the grocery store, we have to learn to be competitive.

These days, society says that we are all equal. Everyone is just as good as everyone else. But consider this: Are Wal-Mart clothes just as good as JC Penny clothes? Is generic the same as brand name?

People may say, “Oh, you’re competitive...” like it’s a bad thing. On the contrary, a fair amount of competitiveness is a good thing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a desire to be good at something. Also, there is nothing wrong with actually being good at something and being prideful of it.

And with all of that being said, there is nothing wrong with being prideful of having a competitive spirit even if you’re not good at what you desire to win. What I mean is, even if you haven’t won a nail competition ever in your life, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be proud of the fact that you have competed.

The thing to not be proud of would be sitting behind the table saying that you don’t need to compete because you’re already better than all the other competitors or claiming that you’ve stopped competing because you ran out of room for trophies.

The point that I’m trying to make here is that a competitive spirit is a good thing as long as you’re being honest and more particularly, honest with yourself. So, conjure up your competitive spirit and do something good with it.
