RIP Vicki Peters: Nail Industry Loses Legend, Friend

The industry has lost a leader and mentor who put helping others above helping even herself.

This may be the most difficult blog I’ve ever written. On December 31 my friend and mentor Vicki Peters passed after battling cancer. She is an industry icon, legend, and legacy of love for all things nails and education. Vicki helped me as a student along with Debbie from Beauty Tech, they became a couple of my nail moms that not only tirelessly and selflessly answered questions but followed me throughout my career to become women I have a great deal of love and respect for.

To lose Vicki leaves a piece of my heart broken professionally and personally. The industry has lost a leader and mentor who put helping others above helping even herself. I may have to come back to this later in another blog as I’m still struggling to accept this and find myself choking on words.

Reopening? Know Your Numbers

For those of you that like a little data with your info, here is some really interesting information from salon owner Michele Baker in Georgia. Being one of the first states to open left the salon owners to scramble to learn a lot of things on their own and many have been generous in sharing things they have figured out to help make operating in the COVID-19 world more systematic and understandable.
