After an entire day of hanging out at home, watching anti-chick flicks (“The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”, “Predator”, etc.) with my hubby, I realized all those flicks had something in common. Aside from the fact they’re all guy movies and someone or something will undoubtedly be shot or blown up, the thing that the characters in these movies have in common is they are all prepared with a plan. I mean, like prepared to take on anything — including aliens.
Blondie (Clint Eastwood) is so practiced at shooting his gun that you can’t see him pull it from the holster. (I know it’s only a movie, but you get my point, right?) And his aim is so good that he can sever a hangman’s noose from 100 yards away — yeah, I’d say he’s practiced that a few times.
Then there’s Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) who is carrying enough ammo in his pack to shoot every person in the jungle at least 1,000 times, then blow it up. These guys are prepared.
So right about now you’re probably wondering what this has to do with nail competitions? Well, everything.
In order to be a successful competitor, you have to be prepared. You have to practice, you have to bring all your supplies and find a good model. If you’re not prepared with at least those things, your success will be impaired. But after a few times of having all the things you need and being practiced in mind and technique and working with the right model, you’ll start to understand how important it is to be prepared. Only then will competing become second nature.
And if you’re lucky enough to compete on this circuit like me, with all the different types and styles of competitions there are, you truly will be prepared for anything, including aliens — the nail art theme that is. ;)
Until next time…
