Congratulations Jill on your marathon! Great job meeting your goal and sticking to your plan. I am sure you feel a great sense of accomplishment and pride. What a wonderful achievement.
Getting a good night’s sleep is definitely the first step in training for your day. I know when I don’t get enough sleep I am not as on the ball as I normally am. Like Jill has said, when tired I don’t remember to make the offerings or recommendations as consistently. Fortunately this doesn’t happen very often. Though, when I first started I remember this kind of thing happening quite a bit. I was young and didn’t understand how a lack of sleep could potentially jeopardize my success. Now I do and make sure to plan ahead to have the best day possible.
I apply this training technique to my skills at the table. We all have heard the saying that “Practice makes perfect.” Well nothing could be truer. The only way to get better at anything is to practice. That requires setting a goal and working towards it even on the days you don’t feel like it. You must be dedicated and tenacious to achieve the goals that you set for yourself.
For instance the other nail tech in my salon is learning how to do pink-and-whites. We sit down every day we are at the salon together and work on the techniques she has been taught and improve upon them. The only way that anyone can progress is by doing it over and over. It is the only way I know to develop consistency with the chosen products and to refine and perfect your technique. Granted you may not be able to produce the results you want the first time you try a new way of doing something, but you probably fell over after taking your first few steps too. The important thing is to remember your goal, track your progress, and stay dedicated just like Jill did in hers. If you do, you will reap the rewards of increased confidence in yourself, a sense of pride in your accomplishment, and ultimately the improved skills from training yourself to be better.
