Wowza Jill, I am sorry that your foot is broken. It is definitely harder to work towards your goals when you are short a fully functioning limb. I can see why you were frustrated with not reaching your goals and just with the injury in general. I am really glad that you were able to get back on track with your goals although you had to modify them. Great job losing 38 pounds so far! I know you will reach your goal in time.
This post is a great reminder that life does indeed get in the way of your goals at times and it is ultimately up to us to refocus our energy and figure out a way to still meet them. Some of the goals I had set for myself at the beginning of the year I have met, and some I have not. One of my goals was to travel and educate overseas. I was able to acccomplish this in Marcch of this year when I got to go to China. That experience was an amazing one that I will not soon forget. I met some of the most talented people and made several new friends. It truly was wonderful.
I also had set the goal to start competing. I entered several competitions this year and placed in the top ten in two of them. This was super exciting for me to start making friends with other competitors and learn from them in the arena. It has been a wonderful experience and I can't wait to see what the themes for the art competitions are for next competition season so I can begin setting new goals and planning out my entries for them.
As for goals I have not yet met, one of my personal goals for the salon is to find and begin training a new associate nail technician. We have been looking but have not found someone yet. So I am refocusing my energy and sending flyers to local cosmetology schools telling them about our salon and letting them know that we are looking for new people to add to our team. Another goal I am still working towards is to raise our overall percentage in the nail department. We have been working very hard to bring our department sales percentage up to 15%. So far we have gotten close but we have not accomplished that task just yet. For this, Rachael and I are really working hard at our add-on services and retail sales. Of course, having a third person would really help with meeting this goal, so they are really two sides of a common goal.
Now is a good time for re-evaluating, re-focusing, and re-strategizing our goals to give us a better chance at reaching them.
