How do I create my own custom nail polish line or find a private label manufacturer that helps with polish design and branding?

June 14, 2013

Your first step would be to identify your target market. Then you should consider how you are going to distribute your custom nail products. What companies will you be selling to? Are you going to sell them yourself or will there be distributors involved? This will allow you to determine the price range you need to be in when setting a price for your product.

Once you have considered these details, you can then begin your search for a supplier. You can start by doing an online search; just type in “private label nail polish.” Review the websites you find and make a few phone calls. You should be able to speak with a knowledgeable person who can guide you through the process. You should be able to select your own packaging style, but you must keep your price point in mind. Another consideration is that there may be additional costs involved due to the sale and distribution of your products so price may play a large role in your final decision. However, nothing compares to outstanding customer service.

Some private label companies provide stock colors for you to choose from and others may be able to create custom colors based on your specifications, however the minimum order requirements may be too great for a start-up company. Select a company that will provide you with the goods and services you need to get started, and help you grow.

Please consider Diamond Cosmetics as your private label polish supplier. You can visit our website, www.diamondcosmetics.com, or call our office at (954) 572-3462, to speak with a private label consultant.

Best of luck with your new nail polish line! — Lisa Antinelli is vice president of Diamond Cosmetics.
