How do you fill a full set of colored acrylics when a client wants a different design?

September 25, 2018

The majority of my clients get a redesign every three weeks, as most of my work is acrylic design. When they return, I need to reduce the previous design down to a thin clear base before I can create a new one. Every new set I do starts with a clear base. Not only does it make it easier to do a redesign, it also prevents any strong acrylic colors from staining the natural nail.

I use my Kupa Passport and Atwood Industry Orange Crush 3 Stripe bit to quickly remove the bulk of the previous set and cut down any length if needed. I then do all my normal natural nail prep — push back the cuticles, buff and remove debris and dust, and dehydrate and prime the natural nail. To create the next design, I apply a thin clear layer on the natural nail and then create the new design, just like if I were creating a new set on forms or over tips.
