I made it back from ISSE, and I can tell you that I will go to that show every year. Competition aside for a moment, the classes, demos and showroom (vendors) were amazing!

Entity Wins in Bulgaria

Congratulations to Maya Abbedissen, who won the National Bulgarian Championship in Nail Design in November. Her impressive first place win in the Gel Nails category allows her the opportunity to compete in the gel category at the World Championship in Dusseldorf, Germany, in March. She will be representing the country of Bulgaria and compete using Entity One Gel Technology.

INTA Sponsors Stars Nail Design Photo Competition

Nail professionals can show the world their creativity by designing and photographing their best work to enter in the International Nail Technicians Association (INTA) Stars Nail Design photo competition. Finalists will be selected and judged by industry celebrities and editors, including Jan Arnold, co-founder of CND, nail technician Vicki Peters, and NAILS editor Hannah Lee.

Students Honored at Empire’s Future Professionals Expo

Empire Education Group’s top students were honored on May 17 at this year’s Future Professionals Expo & Competition. More than 1,900 students from Empire’s 96 schools across the nation attended the 6th annual event in Hershey, Pa., where students from each school competed for valuable prizes.

Stunning Stilettos and More

Intricate floral stiletto nails won the NSI Free-hand Nail Art Competition, an online photo competition that invited nail techs from around the globe to use NSI acrylic or gel to create nail art designs. The entries were judged by Vicki Peters, Denise Wright, and Debbie Doerrlamm, who looked for difficulty of design, use of color, originality, overall enhancement design, and first impression (or the “wow” factor).

Premiere Lives Up to Its Name

The Premiere Orlando International Beauty Event again proved itself as a vibrant beauty show, with more than 46,000 attendees present during the two-day show (which took place June 6 to 7). The show featured 350-plus classes, nail competitions, and NailTech Network Orlando (which was co-hosted by Beautytech.com and NAILS). Next year’s show will be June 4-6.

London Manicurists Land a Spot in the Guinness Book

Students at the London College of Beauty Therapy have filed and polished a combined length of 200 meters (656 feet) of fingernails to set a new Guinness World Record. In total, 1,897 men and women took part in the May 13 record attempt held at the college. The record was for the highest number of file and varnishes performed over an eight-hour period.
