The nail industry in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland has exploded in recent years, with trendy, quick-service nail bars appearing on virtually every street corner and mobile nail techs servicing clients at their homes. But the increase in the number of nail techs has also raised concerns regarding licensing rules and salon safety.

These contests, established in 1967, test students on real-world skills and connect them with potential employers. The Nail Care category lets students compete with other aspiring techs from around the country. The 52nd SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference — including the SkillsUSA Championships — will be held in Louisville, Ky., June 20-24, 2016.
