A Study in Contrast: Once again, NAILS’ readers have spoken, and this year you selected Moscow-based nail tech Anastasia Luksha’s bold but simple design for our cover. Our congratulations and thanks go out to Luksha and the other 11 finalists. After viewing their incredibly imaginative and varied designs, we’re glad that selecting the winner was your job, not ours.

Congratulations to our 12 Cover Tech Contest finalists. Now it’s time for you to vote for the ones you love the best.

If you want to overdose on brilliant photos of nails, take a look at this selection of images submitted to our recent Cover Tech Contest. Winning cover tech Amanda Lenher took top honors with her knock-out comic book-inspired nails. Our heartiest congratulations go to Lenher and all the other finalists. And a giant thank you goes out to everyone who entered this year’s competition.

We tallied your votes and nail tech Miki Nakano of Nail Salon Ciel in Tokyo took top honors this year with her oh-so-pretty puzzle image. Congratulations to Miki, and to runners-up Janina Lumous, Lenzi Brock, and Melanie McCulley. A giant thank you goes out to everyone who entered.

The 10 finalists for NAILS 2014 Cover Tech Contest have been chosen. Now it's UP TO YOU!

Readers just fell in love with Hillary Fry’s edgy image. Take a look at all the incredible images that vied for the winning spot in this year’s Cover Tech Contest, as well as some other great entries that caught our eye. Thank you to all who entered and all who voted.

Cover tech Hillary Fry explains how she got the “hammered metal” look featured on NAILS’ January 2013 cover.

First there were a dozen finalists, now there’s one winner. Nail tech Ruth Deruddere of Belgium captured the most votes in this year’s Cover Tech Contest with her oh-so-lovely nail design that employs a water-marbling technique.

When Jessica Hoel scouted the perfect place to open her nail studio in Belleville, Wash., she knew it would be a dream come true if the space could serve multiple functions — a gel nail studio, storage for the product line she distributes, a small classroom to teach, and a photo studio.

Congratulations to our 12 finalists (we loved them all so much, we couldn’t narrow it down to 10!). Now it’s time for YOU to VOTE for your favorite cover. Click on the link to see the 12 finalists and vote for your favorite FOUR! The winner will grace the cover of the January 2012 Reader-Written Issue of NAILS! Voting ends Friday, November 4, 2011. Good luck!

This year’s NAILS Cover Tech competition was truly international in scope. Our winner, Kelly-Marie Daly, hails from County Cork in Ireland, and our three runners-up represent Canada, the United States, and Slovenia.

In the year 2000, the editors of NAILS decided it would be fun to have a nail technician reader create the cover for one issue and so we started the Cover Tech Contest. Every year, we get hundreds of beautiful entries, creative concepts, and astonishing photographs.

With the voting for this year’s winning cover tech image too close to call, NAILS has done something it’s never done before: We ran two different covers for the same issue. Some of you received an issue featuring black and pink striped nails on the cover and some of you got a blue and green plaid design. In either case, you’re enjoying the handiwork of Julie Kandalec of Jenniffer & Co. in Mentor, Ohio.

Congratulations to NAILS' 2007 Cover Tech Contest winner Doan Hoelsher of DoaNails in Fort Collins, CO. Hoelsher created a feast for the eyes with her sumptuous strawberry-themed design. We're delighted to share the winning images with you, along with a selection of our favorite entries. Our thanks to everyone who submitted photos for sharing your artistry with us.
