A Study in Contrast: Once again, NAILS’ readers have spoken, and this year you selected Moscow-based nail tech Anastasia Luksha’s bold but simple design for our cover. Our congratulations and thanks go out to Luksha and the other 11 finalists. After viewing their incredibly imaginative and varied designs, we’re glad that selecting the winner was your job, not ours.
In the year 2000, the editors of NAILS decided it would be fun to have a nail technician reader create the cover for one issue and so we started the Cover Tech Contest. Browse through the best of the contests through the years.
With a colorful tie-dye design and unique photography, nail tech RussAnna Dudley won the top spot this year. Eileen Fox’s on-trend milk bath design took the first runner-up spot, while Sarah Petersen’s geometric design took the second runner-up spot, and Scarlett Senter’s dramatic floral French was the third runner-up. Congratulations to all our finalists and thank you to everyone who entered this year’s competition.
Nail tech Kryssy Hawkins won the top spot this year with her edgy, colorful, DJ-inspired image. Stella Sampson’s delicate teatime design earned her the first-runner-up spot, while Ashton Harlan’s sharp chrome nails were the second-runner-up, and Eileen Fox’s Indian-flavored design was the third-runner-up.

With a year of nail technology classes under her belt, Tokyo-based cover tech Ami Seki is continuing her Education at Ci:z Nail Academy and also doing nails at Tout Soleil salon, where she has worked for about six months.
