When Feet Are Beat: Marketing to Marathoners

Salon gives runners a post-race treat.

In October, Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas offered Chicago-area runners the opportunity to work out the kinks after the Bank of America Chicago Marathon with complimentary upgrades to massages and pedicures during the week following the race. Runners were asked simply to present their marathon bib number at the spa to receive their special pampering treatment.

The pedicure treatment, designed especially for runners, began with a foot soak in a soothing milk bath while the runner’s neck rested on a warm neck pillow. It also included a rejuvenating foot massage with deeply moisturizing shea butter.
